From May 4-7, 2026 , Meccanostampi will be at IFAT<\/strong> Munich, the leading international trade fair on sustainability and materials for environmental technologies, water, recycling, waste and circularity.<\/p>\n\n

For Meccanostampi, participation in IFAT is not a random choice. It is the natural consequence of a path built over time of responsible design, attention to materials, automation, process quality and waste reduction. <\/p>\n\n

Sustainability<\/strong>, in our industry, does not arise at the end of the supply chain. It is not a corrective to be applied when the product is already defined. It enters much earlier: in the co-design phase, in the design of the mold, in the stability of the production process, in the possibility of reducing waste, rework and consumption. <\/p>\n\n

This is where our role as a development partner<\/em> takes on real value.<\/p>\n\n

Designing better means consuming less<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

In the world of plastic injection molding, sustainability comes through precise technical decisions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

A properly designed mold<\/a> allows for more stable processes and more consistent quality over time. Proper industrialization reduces scrap and optimizes resource utilization. Automation, when intelligently integrated, improves repeatability and limits inefficiencies. <\/p>\n\n

In this sense, every project is also an environmental choice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

For Meccanostampi, sustainability means working on causes, not just effects. It means intervening where industrial value is generated: in the relationship between product, material, mold and process. <\/p>\n\n

This approach leads us to collaborate with customers from the earliest stages of development, assessing feasibility, performance, durability, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing impact. The goal is not simply to make a compliant component, but to build a more efficient, reliable and informed manufacturing system. <\/p>\n\n

Materials, traceability, and new responsibilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The issue of materials<\/strong> is now one of the focal points of European industrial transformation.<\/p>\n\n

The choice of a resin, additive or technical solution can no longer be evaluated only in terms of mechanical, aesthetic or functional performance. It must take into account raw material availability, regulatory compliance, traceability, recyclability, lifecycle safety, and the ability to transparently document product information. <\/p>\n\n

The new European Regulation on eco-design<\/strong> for sustainable products goes exactly in this direction. The European Commission’s 2025-2030 work plan aims to promote more durable, repairable, circular and efficient products by introducing requirements that go beyond energy efficiency alone and involve the entire product life cycle. <\/p>\n\n

This scenario opens a new phase for many production chains.<\/p>\n\n

Sustainability will become a market access criterion, a competitive<\/strong> element, and a design<\/strong> factor. Materials, resources, durability, transparency and digital product passport will be increasingly linked to the ability of companies to demonstrate the value and compliance of their solutions. <\/p>\n\n

It is not just about adapting to new obligations. It is about evolving the way products are designed, developed and manufactured. <\/p>\n\n

PFAS: a technical, regulatory and environmental issue<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Within this framework, the PFAS issue is becoming increasingly important.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

PFAS are a family of compounds used in numerous industries for their chemical, thermal and surface resistance properties. However, their high persistence in the environment has made them the subject of increasing regulatory and scientific attention. <\/p>\n\n

At the European level, a proposal for a broad restriction on PFAS<\/strong> is being evaluated under the REACH regulation. For manufacturing companies, this means one very concrete thing: knowing more about the materials used, talking more closely with the supply chain, anticipating possible critical issues and evaluating technical alternatives when necessary. <\/p>\n\n

Again, sustainability is not an abstract concept. It is the ability to read change, manage risk, design with awareness, and accompany the client<\/strong> toward solutions that are robust, verifiable, and consistent with the evolving regulatory framework. <\/p>\n\n

A change already underway<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The European regulatory environment is changing in concrete ways and more rapidly than is often perceived.<\/p>\n\n

On April 9, at a meeting sponsored by Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti<\/em>, our CEO Laura Trevisson<\/strong> opened the discussion on a topic that is central to the production system today: the new eco-design regulation.<\/p>\n\n

The message brought there was clear: “It is not a distant future. It is a change that is already taking place. <\/em>“<\/p>\n\n

The regulation introduces a profound transformation in the way products are designed, manufactured, documented, and placed on the market.<\/strong> It is no longer just about energy efficiency, but about the entire product life cycle: materials, resources, durability, traceability, transparency, and the ability to objectively demonstrate the sustainability of design choices. <\/p>\n\n

This is an important step because it shifts the issue of sustainability from the level of communication to that of industrial strategy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Businesses will be required to demonstrate not only what they produce, but how<\/strong> they produce<\/strong> it<\/strong>. Not just the quality of the end result, but the soundness of the process that generates it. Not just the conformity of the individual component, but the consistency of the entire design and production process. <\/p>\n\n

In this perspective, the digital product passport is not just a documentary tool<\/strong>. It is a new form of industrial transparency, destined to affect market access and the relationship between companies, customers, suppliers and institutions. <\/p>\n\n

IFAT as a place for comparison and consistency<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

To be present at IFAT is to insert oneself into this dialogue.<\/p>\n\n

The Munich fair represents one of the places where the environmental industry, resource management and circularity technologies meet the concrete needs of companies. For Meccanostampi, participating means closely observing the industry’s evolutions, comparing notes with international partners and operators, and gathering useful signals to guide future choices. <\/p>\n\n

But it also means confirming a direction already taken.<\/p>\n\n

    The path to a more sustainable industry will not be linear. It will require investment, expertise, data, transparency, and the ability to collaborate throughout the supply chain. <\/p>\n\n

    For many companies it will be a challenge. But it will also be an opportunity: to enhance the quality work already in place, strengthen market positioning, and turn sustainability into a real element of competitiveness. <\/p>\n\n
